CARTRIDGE FAQs
1. What does the term OEM mean?
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. OEMs, such as Canon, Epson, Lexmark, HP, are the companies that manufacture printers. OEM cartridges are cartridges that are branded under your OEM's brand. All our products are fully compatible with OEM standards.
2. What is the difference between OEM compatible, OEM Genuine, and OEM remanufactured?
OEM Compatible Cartridges(Generic) are made by a third party with the same technology, standards and cost noticeably less. Remanufactured Cartridges are brand name cartridges that have been professionally cleaned and refilled with appropriate ink for that cartridge. Genuine OEM Cartridges are brand name cartridges made by the printer company.
3. Will the use of a remanufactured or compatible cartridge void my printer's warranty?
NO! Federal Trade Commission - Magnusson-Moss Warranty Federal Commission Improvement Act (Subparagraph C, section 101) - regulations specifically states that "No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumer's using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade or corporate name".
What the above really means: The manufacturer of the printer you are using cannot void the warranty on your printer because you use a cartridge or refill kit manufactured by someone other than the printer manufacturer. This prohibition includes the use of compatible cartridges, clip-ons, continuous feeding mechanisms, refill kits, ink, etc. For more information on the act, you can contact the Federal Trade Commission at (202) 326-3128.
4. What is a compatible cartridge (replacement) mean?
Compatible cartridges (replacements) are manufactured by third parties (other than OEMs) and fully compatible with OEMs. They are exactly the same. Compatible cartridges are also refillable afterwards, just like OEMs. Unfortunately, Hewlett Packard doesn't allow third parties to manufacture compatible cartridges, so nobody can carry them.
Remanufactured FAQs
5. What exactly does remanufactured mean?
Recycled cartridges that are disassembled and have their worn parts replaced are called remanufactured cartridges. To guarantee print quality, remanufactured cartridges are refilled and tested in the factory.
6. Are the remanufactured cartridges completely filled?
Yes, every cartridge is filled to full capacity.
REFILL FAQs
7. What does a cartridge refill mean?
Refilling is simply the process of injecting the ink from the bottles into your existing cartridge using the syringe.
8. Do I need a special refillable cartridge to use your refill kits?
All cartridges are refillable. You can refill your own cartridges or cartridges you buy from us. We recommend having your cartridge refilled before it is completely dried up.
If a printer cartridge is left without ink for more than 2 weeks then the printhead can get clogged which makes refilling with good quality results more difficult.
9. How many times can I refill a cartridge?
Somewhere between seven to ten times. There are many factors that can decrease the performance and ability to refill, such as use of inkjet cartridge (not letting the cartridge run out of ink before refilling), printer paper used (low quality papers causes the electric contacts on the printhead to wear out).
10. When is the best time to refill my printer cartridge?
We recommend that you refill your cartridge while the cartridge still has some ink in it or immediately after it runs out of ink. If a cartridge sits empty for more than two weeks then ink remnants in the nozzles will dry and the printhead can cause permanent damage to your printer.
11. What does replacement toner mean?
Replacements toners are manufactured by third parties and fully compatible with OEMs.
FAQs
12. What is your Return and Exchange Policy?
You may return unopened cartridges up to 30 days after delivery for a full refund or credit. Only the cartridge cost will be refunded or credited, shipping charges will not be refunded or credited. Defective cartridges may be returned within 30 days after delivery for a full money back refund or credit and up to 90 days for a store credit only. defective cartridges must be returned in their original boxes.
13. How do I install a new cartridge that I purchased from your store?
Always follow the printer manufacturer's guidelines for installing new cartridges. Our cartridges are made to follow the specifications of the original equipment manufacturer, so they will install exactly the same way.
14. What should I do when my printhead nozzles are blocked with dried ink?
Place the clogged nozzles in warm water and soak them until the dried ink begins to flow from the nozzle. After a few minutes of letting the dried ink flow, remove the nozzle from the water and gently dry it with a soft tissue or cotton swab. Reinstall the cartridge and run the print head cleaning mechanism (described in your inkjet printer's manual). If this does not work, repeat the procedure. If your cartridge still does not print after repeating, you will need to purchase a new cartridge because the print head is probably damaged.
15. What can I do if my printer does not print after refilling my cartridge?
Using the syringe supplied in your refill kit, inject air into the top air vent to clean the nozzles. A small amount of ink should be emitted from the nozzle upon injection. If this procedure does not work, your printhead nozzles are probably blocked with dried ink. At this point using the syringe: Take out as much ink as possible from your cartridge. Then place the clogged nozzles in warm water and soak them until dried ink begins to flow from the nozzle. After several minutes of letting the dried ink flow, remove the nozzle from the water and gently dry it with a soft tissue or cotton swab.
Reinstall the cartridge and run the print head cleaning mechanism (described in your inkjet printer's manual). If this does not work, repeat the procedure. If your cartridge still does not print after repeating, you will need to purchase a new cartridge because the print head is probably damaged.
16. What should I do if my print quality is poor after refilling?
Using a soft tissue or cotton swab, clean any ink from the nozzle. Reinstall the cartridge and attempt to print again. Poor print quality may also be a sign of overfilling your inkjet cartridge. If it still does not print properly, you might have some air left in your cartridge. Using the syringe, take the air from your cartridge and try again.
17. What should I do if there are white streaks in my printouts?
Make sure that the cartridge is not empty. If it is full, place the cartridge nozzle on a soft tissue, allowing some ink to leak out. Allow the nozzle to sit for a few minutes before gently wiping it with a soft tissue or cotton swab. Reinstall the cartridge and attempt to print again.
18. What should I do if ink is continuously flowing from the nozzle?
First check to make sure the rubber stopper is properly placed within the refill hole. If the stopper is properly placed and ink is still flowing, the bag inside the cartridge has most likely been damaged and you will need to purchase a new cartridge. You can still temporarily use the cartridge by covering the top air vent with tape.
19. Do you accept used or empty cartridges?
We do not accept or take back used or empty cartridges for credit or recycling.
20. You sent me the wrong cartridge. What do I do?
If we sent you the wrong cartridge and you would like to receive the correct one, email our customer service department at vivian@lmcomp.com and request a Return Merchandise Authorization Number (RMA#) to return the incorrect cartridge and receive the correct one. Include your full name, order invoice number, and product you would like to exchange for reference.
Tips for Inkjet Cartridges
Tip#1
If the cartridge is missing a color take the cartridge and cover the print head with a damp cloth and shake the cartridge. Then, take the same damp cloth and place the print head on the damp cloth and swipe the cartridge to make sure all the colors appear on the damp cloth. (This is the same for the black & color cartridges.)
Tip #2
If the cartridge is missing a color take a picture that contains only the color missing and print that document. This will cause the cartridge to push more ink on the paper when printing that color.
Tip #3
Always install the printer software that comes with the printer. Clean the heads using the software that comes with the printer. For best results repeat two to three times.
Tip #4
On Lexmark cartridges always configure the cartridge for “new cartridge” when replacing the cartridge.
Tip #5
If the cartridge is coming up as not being recognized then you should try cleaning the contacts on the back of the cartridge using rubbing alcohol and a q-tip.
Tip #6
Make sure that the printer is set for “Best Quality” under the printer settings. This applies to all inkjet printers (HP, Lexmark, and Canon).
